Gibraltar frontier queue
The Mayor of La Linea has come up with a plan to solve the long traffic queues into Gibraltar.:ohmy::ohmy::ohmy:

Had to smile at that:rofl: Does he not realise that all the local roads will then be congested with drivers cruising around until the queue goes down!

thats awful. The queues are a direct result of the hitlers at the frontier.
Lets face it, la linea is a "hole" and if it wasnt for GIB, no one would ever go there. |

Visitors to Gib will decrease due to this i am sure, on our last visit, we had to leave our coach after being in a queue for about 45mins...and cross the border on foot, not sure how long it took the driver to get into Gib car park..less trips mean less money for Sp coach drivers & their companies..i agree the hold ups are caused by the little hitlers in their little huts... coming back was a nightmare everyone getting frisked..thats why we have never gone back for a 2nd visit..!!:thumbdown:

A few years ago now, but I moved from Gib to Spain.
I loved it there but its a very small place and almost claustrophic sometimes when you cant get out because of border queues etc. Anyway, when it came to packing our things all I could find was the large Winston ciggie boxes. I thought it may be a problem but had no option. At the border those swines made us tip everything out of the boxes, even the small toys. But I guess then it was accepted as the norm and there was little anyone could do about it. I bet house prices were cheaper.:lol: |

One could escape by air to UK By ferry to Tangeirs Or by private boats to Spain, but not Cadiz province. Houses didn't exist, I would guess less than 5% in the private sector. Lots of Government ( council ) flats and military accommodation. Most local families lived in Government flats, two, three or more generations crammed in together. Expats lived in cardboard boxes if they were lucky.:ohmy: Straitjacket would be more appropriate. Flew into Gib once, never again. The airport was a toilet, and the toilets were non existant or completely disgusting. Cap it off with a god awful queue, and I vowed to only ever go there in dire need, and never to use the airport again unless there was no choice.
You will note that the 'solution' is a typical political non-solution. Are the queues a problem? Then don't do anything to prevent them forming, just ban them. That requires no real action to be taken, just more little hitlers in the area, and politics is overflowing with those types. |

This argument between GibvSpain is so old.
I dont know the answer. But Gib is not as bad as many suggest. Some people need to look a little harder. |
