Gas/electricity bills UK v Spain
How does the electricity bill in Spain compare with electricity bills in the UK? We keep hearing that the price of electriciy and gas are going up at an alarming rate in the UK - but it seems to be rather high in Spain, even the price of gas bottles has gone up from 11.34 euros before Christmas to 12.29 euros when we replaced them last week

150 euros seems rather high Mitzy We were paying something similar to you in the UK, will be a lot more now I imagine Gas was about the same, that's with GCH and gas cooker. It just seems from what I am reading on various posts that electricity is highly priced in Spain, particularly when there are fines for 'over consumption'

I think you will find that the UK prices have increased dramatically since you were living here. In a four bedroomed house, we pay £150 per month for gas and electricity.

If you check the unit rate I think Spain is about half the UK.

In the UK £56 a month for electricity and £37 for gas. Here in Spain first bill for 2 months €115 but dreading next one as been using electric heater though have tried to be careful and we are not at home all day. Gas here about €20 a month.

We get fined nearly every bill for using to much leccy, usually between 2-3 euros. Electric is the biggest bill we have here in Spain, I am always worrying about the amount we use but then OH points out that the rest of our cost of living is still much lower than the UK so to stop fretting about it. Our bill for Nov/Dec was 175 euros, we were very good for those two months also away for 3 weeks that kept it down. Dreading the next bill as we have had the heating on for about 8 hours a day

I stopped using the electric radiators and bought logs for the fire instead. But all I am doing is spreading the cost ... it works out the same, just that having a roaring log fire is much more fun than looking at an electric radiator!!!

We have a log fire, it is so much nicer to watch the old TV by the glow of a fire. Really lucky just recently found a chap that sells the biggest basket of logs for 5 euros, for those of you in Chiclana no I am not going to tell where he is
