Gas Bottles
I am going back over to Spain next month after having renovation work completed, including a new water heater installed. I know that I need a contract with a supplier but will need hot water right away.
Can anyone tell me where I can get replacement gas bottles. The empty ones I have are silver.
I have not used gas bottles before and this will be a first, any advice.

A lot of the petrol stations keep them as well.

Can someone please tell me what the initial charge is for gas bottles - I assume there is a deposit to be paid on top of the first purchase.

The silver ones are usually CEPSA and available from petrol stations. They are aluminium and a lot lighter than the red ones. Do a search on gas bottles as there has been quite a lot of info on this topic a little while back.

Thanks everyone, I wasn't sure about getting a full gas bottle without a contract. It's good to know I can exchange them at a petrol station without a contract.

Re: Gas Bottles
Is there anything available to indicate how much gas is left in a bottle? We have found that some of our guests have been changing it before it is empty?

Usually in the middle of a nice hot shower, when the water suddenly turns ice cold...is a good sign the bottle is empty.

The gas man still comes though our village every week ,he only deals in "Orange bottles "and says that he has no intention of changing to "Cespa" gas, we have both and find that the orange bottles seem to last longer,

You can always get a bit more out of the bottle by laying it down (if the pipe is long enough) Who said Yorkshire folk are tight?

Do not pay more than the official €11.80 price. There are tales of none Spanish speaking foreigners being charged up to €15 for a re-fill
If ours is getting a bit low, I always insist on the first shower

I paid 45 euro for mine when getting one without an exchange, silver bottle, then just exchange them, petrol stations tend to be a bit cheaper, but we have lods of different types of shops stocking them round here, and they've just gone down 25c a bottle.

Re: Gas Bottles
If you have the orange ones you can buy i little magnetic gauge from any caravan shop or over the net, stick it on bottle at base & this will roughly tell you how much is left in it, unfortunately they dont seem to work on the aluminium ones
