Furniture packages
 

Hi can anyone recommend a furniture company who will complete the whole package including cleaning, fitting etc and anything in between. If so do they have showrooms in Ayamonte?
I would be grateful for personal experience of reputable companies.

Frontera have a showroom in Ayamonte. It faces the river, near to the Supersol supermarket. They sell furniture packages and will install everything for you too.
If you need a property management company let me know.

Absolute behind Barclays in Ayamonte do Furniture packages and Management..maybe worth a try...They speak Spanish and English and have been there quite a while. :thumbup:

I may be wrong but I thought Absolute had closed their furniture shop?

If time is an issue then the package route is best, but if you have the time to go over and look around Ayamonte and the local area you will get a better selection and the prices will be keener; particularly for beds. Also we found white goods in the local shops were much more competitive . This of course is just our opinion but you may find it helpful.
Also there are plenty of small firms that offer very good management. You just need to post on here for recommendations and you'll get a bunch of responses.

Absolute have closed the shop but have a show apartment at Cabanas. I used them 18 months ago and was delighted with the goods, service abd price

A couple of companies with good reputations are http://www.manzanapm.com/ and http://www.onestopayamonte.com/ I have not used the services of either of these property management companies but know many of their clients who are all extremely satisfied.

Thanks for the information everyone very much appreciated.
We will give your suggestions a try. Really like the idea of doing things ourselves but doubt we will have the time so a package might be better.

We went the package route and arranged for PurpleParrot (who were then called Spanish Algarve Services) to get everything for us. In retrospect I think it was a mistake as we have missed the enjoyment of kitting out the place ourselves. We were planning to attract some rental income (ho ho ho!) and bought with that in mind. Since then we have been trying to add more and more personal touches to make it feel more like ours.
I would suggest a compromise - get the bare essentials as a package which means that you can move in and then spend some time enjoying fitting it out. The local firms all seem to be very good - and most will deliver same day if it is stock, set up and remove packaging etc. You can pick and mix amongst the stores. There are a couple of big furniture superstores on the outskirts of Cartaya and there is of course Ikea on the outskirts (Huelva side) of Seville. Not everyone's taste but it is fun choosing:)

Thanks Mike for your advice.
Really like the idea of putting that personal touch to the house but worried about the time it may take after waiting 3 years to enjoy the property. Have written off the rental income for a while but really love the area anyway so just want to enjoy it for now.
Really appreciate the comments from all.
Also looking for a shop in Ayamonte that sells bikes, I know you can get them at the supermarkets for a great price but we are looking for something that will cover a decent amount of miles!.

Hi Jules, There is a good shop down in the calle Galdames called Bike-spor. a bit of the beaten track because they´re not in the center but the owner is a biker/mountainbiker of his own so he should be able to set you up with a decent bike.

I like a few others in the area took a different route. We went to our local IKEA, identified all the furniture we wanted in the our Spanish property and noted down the item numbers, etc. We sent this to a firm (Enlish husband & wife team) and they purchased all the items in IKEA in Sevilla (we checked they were in stock from IKEA Sevilla's website), they stored them for a short time and then delivered them to our place in Ayamonte. They brought all the goods into the house and helped assemble some of the more bulkey items. They were a great team and could not do enough! I have no economic connection with them and found out about them on this site. If you are interested google "Don Campo", their website is www.doncampo.co.uk. The cons were a bit of leg and computer work on my part and I had to be there for the delivery (+some assembly). The pros were I chose exactly what I wanted at a local IKEA, saved a lot of money and I had to travel to Spain.

Other issues like fitting light fiitings, curtain poles, etc., can be sorted out via some of the property management companies/firms mentioned above.

We did the same but instead of Ikea we used Frontera (have no connection to it apart from the fact that I have bought furniture from them). They delivered, unpacked and arranged the furniture, put up mirrors, towel rails etc and even arranged to have our white goods delivered on the same day. All this while we were in the UK. When we next came out everything was in place and immaculate. Can't get better than that. Hope everything goes as well for you. Regards Bryony
