Hello

My name is Sue. We are planning on living in Fuerteventura and are looking for advice on buying and any pitfalls we may encounter in the future.

Kind regards

Hi Sue,

Welcome to BE!!

I hope you enjoy being part of our community and the best of luck with your move to Fuerteventura.

I can't help with info about Spain, but I've moved your thread to our Spain forum for you and I'm sure some of our members will be able to share some tips and pointers. In the meantime have a read through some of the other threads in this section and get to know everyone

Hi Sue,
Welcome aboard.
Pitfalls can be to numerous to mention even if you do everything by the book.
Suggest you look through a few threads dealing with that sort of thing.
Be sure to use your own solicitor rather than one recommended/supplied by agent or seller.
Also watch out for incessant sand-storms in the prevailing easterly winds.
Much more pleasant on the more westerly isles, IMHO of course.
Best of Luck,
D.D.

Hi

Thanks so much. We are going to a road show in London in March. Been researching quite a bit by IT helps to get advice from people who have gone through it.

When you say westerly do you mean one of the other islands.

Take care Sue x

As Concierge for the Spanish section of BE I would like to say hello and welcome.

BE is a very large expat website, so if you have problems finding your way around we have concierges who will try to direct you. The moderators for the Spanish forums are Mitzyboy and Fred James, moderators are there to ensure that the site runs smoothly within the rules of BE. Problems and complaints should always be addressed to a moderador who will look into the matter and deal with it efficiently and fairly. Our members who post in the Spain Forums are friendly and helpful with a wealth of knowledge of the issues of living in Spain. At the top of the page you will find a quirkily named thread called Free Beer which is full of important and useful information. Hope you enjoy your time participating in the forums.

Please let me know if you need any further help.

The further west the island, the greener and prettier it is and the less affected by the prevailing easterlies carrying sand and fine dust.
