I appreciate this might be an old subject but I've searched this forum and elsewhere and can't find a definitive answer.
I have a French registered car, I have residence in France and work freelance in France, but some of my family live in Spain. I regularly travel to Spain to see them and stay with them. Out of a whole year I might spend the magic figure of 6 months, or there or there abouts, in Spain. I'm not going to buy another car in Spain when I can use the one I have for travelling back and forth.
Where can I find the info on what the true regulations are as regards bringing a foreign registered car into Spain?

I have heard I can for 6 months out of a year, I've heard three months. I've heard lots of different things and it depends if I am a resident of Spain or not. I've been told a tourist is one thing but someone with family in Spain is another hence I need to change the registration or maybe not, get a temporary import permit every time I cross the border or not, on pain of having my car seized, or not etc etc.

Any official links from the Spanish traffic dept or any other official body? I'm struggling to find something.
