Footgolf
Hi
I was watching BBC breakfast this morning and they have a special piece on FOOTGOLF. Never heard of it before. BBC News - UK footgolf tournament kicks off But it seems that its very popular and there are even national teams. You can play alongside golfers on a golf course and it sounds like fun. I wonder if we could add this at CE Golf and therefore increase the 'cachet' of our course.. and therefore bring more footfall to us (no pun intended :) ). Something that we need. Any thoughts? I'd be happy to recommend this to CERA/GC/Javier etc. Jon PS Forgot to mention this is also a low cost option as well |
Re: Footgolf
There is plenty of room on the east course for footy golf and it would give all those folk who paid a premium for "frontline golf apartments " something to watch while they drown their sorrows.

Or you could put in a bid for the course and set up a new busines LOL |

I'm not sure the club would appreciate use of the West course but run a mower over the East course and it would be ideal. I've seen this played and it surprisingly skilful. ISTR vaguely, a story about football golf in Portugal.

Re: Footgolf
I don't think it would work on golf2. Nature has taken it over. The cost to prepare the course & lack of facilities would make it unworkable. What BBC presented yesterday was both footgolf and golf coexisting and the sports reporter, Mike Bushell, made a good case for that.
Was esurijohn kidding re a CE foot golf team and injuries? I haven't heard of any CE footgolf team in CE but would give it a go if so. Us over 50's injure easier, but this looks less threatening than many more active or impact-type sports. Jon |

There is also walking football for the over50s played in the Algarve. Maybe the chance of injury would be higher though. Blown pacemakers etc

Hi Jon, there was a 'match' a while ago as a few of our friends took part. I'm afraid I can't comment further on the subject as, you must remember, I am married to a golfer who wouldn't entertain the thought of sharing the course and also hates Mike Bushell with a passion 😱. Regards Bryony
Not hearing a lot of support though to make this more of a regular occurrence. Anyway it was just a thought. Thanks for the feedback..... Jon |

I said the injuries occurred at the over 50s football it was all too serious. The footgolf strained muscles that had not be used for a loooong time.
So with darts golf we wont stretch those unused muscles that were strained in the footy! Jon |

Maybe we should create Darts-golf! Even though well over 50 we have good arm muscles from 'eating-muscles' eg sawing away at steak-on-the stone.... and beer-drinking arms as well! I try and switch beer-arms to keep both sides equal ;);)

What a shame I missed it, when you are over next and hubby is playing golf away (and cant see us play), or if anyone reading this is planning a rematch, please count me in on a footgolf team.

So I have to put her on my list of 'hated' presenters! Sorry off topic, but Ive had enough of her! Sooner she goes the better (IMO)! Probably get flamed now by her fans! But got it off my chest. Jon |

I remembered this post, and Ive been putting up with Naga Manchetti (sp) for ages on BBC Breakfast, and always cringing when she talks over people, asks some stupid questions, and makes pithy comments... and fails to be funny... and that squeaky voice... and that attempt every time she introduces the weather to be funny.... the list goes on.

Jon I'm sorry to say that we love Naga (Mike especially likes her as she is a very good golfer) and would much prefer her to Louis Minchin. We also don't like Charlie Stayt but like Dan. Totally off topic, omg, what about Teresa May? |

Re: Footgolf
On the subject of presenters. I was rather hoping that if the Scots had won their independence referendum they would have kindly taken that awful banshee sounding Loraine character, that my wife insists on watching over breakfast, back over the border accompanied by the simpering pseudo intellectual Naughtie boor off radio 4.
Alas as they voted to stick with us so we are lumbered... but who knows, we may get another shot if Mrs Sturgeon gets her way. However, I hope we get to keep Andrew Marr. |

Is she that good at footgolf then?
I wasn't a fan of Lorraine either... Charlie Stayt, was IMO really good at first, he's still positive for me - but he seems to have gotten a tad over confident. I like Dan. Louise Minchin is a bit too 'nice' but still positive, for me. Naga may be a good golfer - but I like the footy and there are footy-positive presenters that I don't like... based on their criteria as presenters. Re Teresa May, well its a done deal. She was a remainer, (which is weird to me personally as a Brexiter) - to run a Brexit campaign now, but she took a long time to 'come out' meaning that she may have been on the fence. Who knows. She seems serious, committed and has said the right things about 'Brexit means Brexit'. In terms of statesmanship she was the best of the bunch for me personally, with the caveat about her 'remain' history. I posted about that on another thread. She has gotten away with it, but Corbyn with his history of EU scepticism and his comment that he was 75% in ... has bought him the ire of his parliamentary 'colleagues' ... he hasn't gotten away with it. I was there when Andrew Marr was interviewing Corbyn in Brighton immediately after he won. For me its great to see him back, and when he had his stroke, I contacted him and the BBC bosses to pass on my respects and wish for a quick recovery and return to the TV. I also am positive about Andrew Neill. I think BBC are better on balance for news and political news, especially after Suzanna Reid went to ITV. She annoyed me when she publically criticised a bunch of kids who won a national prize about the environment - and got a trip to Antarctica. They were delighted, proud and happy to have their '15 minutes' - and she criticised that they had flown there and therefore depleted the ozone layer! Pl-on-ke-r Jon |
