This was my 1st record Gypsies Tramps and Thieves by Cher.
Thankfully as a little innocent 8yr old I didn't have a clue what the lyrics meant  :D

I LOVE that song

(Just listen to the song on the second link, ignore the video)

You caught me out there anabella; I expected the first link to be a Beatles song!

Who is the gorgeous hunk of a lead singer, and what's the band called?
Oh, and I liked the song too ;)

What's wrong with the video in the second link??
I thought the lad was very handsome..........although I was a bit worried that it might have been a really sad tribute type of video??
I hope not!
Liked that song too; but I preferred the first one.

My first record was "Ca Plane Pour Moi!" by Plastic Bertrand around 1978!!

I used to leap around my bedroom singing along tunelessly to the chorus :o
(It's so embarrassing that it's not even worth looking for a link to it)

I did redeem myself shortly afterwards by becoming a huge Jam fan

More of a Marmite person myself!!

10cc The things you do for love - why???? I really don't know, second was Denis Denis by Blondie - with a picture sleeve - 99% of the reason I bought it.

Not as good as "I'm all out of love"

I had the Parallel Lines Blondie album, and nearly wore a hole in it!
My favourite track was "11.59"

Nuffink wrong wiv dat!

I was the proud owner of StC myself. Bubba dubba dumb bum, bubba dubba dumb bum, bubba dumb bum bubba dum, bubba dubba dum...
...wish I was at home, for Christmas...

My first record bought with my own money was a Showaddywaddy LP (and you thought having BCR was bad!)

First single was Duke of Earl by Darts. Yes I was a doowop fan.

Second 45 set me on the right road... Cars by Gary Numan. Rapidly followed by Just Can't Get Enough by Depeche Mode, Swords of a Thousand Men by Tenpole Tudor, and Can Can by Bad Manners...

What was that about the road?

Wanted to buy the Number 1 at the time...Band of Gold by Freda Payne but they sold out.

So I ended up with Number 2 in the charts.........Tears of a clown by Smokey Robinson.

Gary Numan was on the telly the other day, 30 years in the business and still touring. And still flying planes surprisingly! Do you remember Sham 69 and 'Hurry up Harry'?

Both great records. We had a quite radical music teacher who allowed us to bring in records and do a sort of 'Jukebox Jury', I gave both of those '5'.

And boy, is he a hunk!!

Is that a fairly recent clip; or seeing as we're talking about the first records we bought, is he old and wrinkly now - in a Sylvester Stallone kind of degeneration!!

We must be about the same age then (very young! ;))
I remember dancing to all those songs at school discos in the late 70s!

My brother had an excellent Showaddywaddy album............and I always loved "Tiger Feet" by Mud (but that's going back even further!)

Do you remember "The Stomp?" There was a particular dance to it; that even I, the two left feet Queen, could do! :o

Yes! I remember them...............I was born in Hersham!

"Hersham boys, Hersham boys,
Laced up boots and corduroys!""

Aye, they don't make lyrics like those any more! :D

Apparently, Jimmy Percy was my aunt's (by marriage) cousin........or something like that

Re: Gary Numan - I loved "Are Friends Electric?" and I used to know all the words! :o

Wow, this thread has really got me reminiscing about all the 45s that I sold at a car boot sale before moving to Spain.
I'm half wishing I'd kept them now!

I've been clearing out our loft and found loads of vinyl. I'm now thinking of ordering a USB turntable so I can transfer them all onto digital media.

There's loads of 12" singles from when I used to go to The Goldmine in Canvey Island.
