A few years back the Guardia pulled me and did me for no insuarnce even though i had my insuarance documents on me

Filled everything out all proper and gave me the deatils of which bank to pay into etc. Luckily it was a long term lease car and paco the owner sorted it for me.

One thing i dont like about Spain you have to plan your routes around where they have road blocks

I have to say that, although I believe in respect and support for the police generally, I have a pretty low opinion of Trafico. It seems to me you can drive like a maniac and get away with it, but if your paperwork is not 100%, you're in for trouble. The "paperwork police" is my pet name for them.

I see where you are coming from but some paperwork is important i.e. insurance and actually having a valid licence etc, especially if one of your loved ones ends up in an accident with some uninsured idiot. There do however seem to be many more cops all over the place in Spain looking to ticket people, they have obviously with the credit crunch followed Gordon Browns target strategy and look where that got him.

Spanish Trafico scare me, but when you think of the ridiculous numbers of foreigners from all over the world they have to deal with, you've got to sympathise with them. I can imagine a UK traffic officer being confronted with a Chinese or Russian driving licence at Spaghetti junction.

I suppose the revolver comforts them in Spain, and I bet the cops at Spaghetti junction wouldn't object to having a revolver when pulling over some idiot from Albania with a boot full of AK 47's.

Amazing what some of the police force in Spain dream up to keep them from fining their own compadres. Women wearing a bikini top while driving (without tee shirt, obviously) €80.00 Fine. Male or female driving while wearing flip flops €80.00 Fine. Males without teeshirt Fine €80.00.

Then how dare you get a tow bar fitted outside of Spain - Have you a certificate to say that the tow bar is safe to use in Spain? This is eventhough there is no trailer attached or had not been attached for years.

This is what you get when you have a Beach-Bum with little education promoted to the Police Force in Spain. And yes they hide behind their revolvers. And yes, outside of tantalising the livin' daylights out of holiday makers they do very little.

I was stopped twice this week.
On the same day.
Seperated by only a matter of minutes
Once going into Oliva, and once going out of Oliva.

They did not want to see any documents at all.
Just "open the back of the van please".
So I did.
One has a look around at the dishes, receiver, drills, aerial etc in the back of the van.
The other asks "What is my job?"
I was sooooooooo tempted to say something other that "TV system installer!", but know some GC dont appreciate sarcasm (although one or two that I know do and thay also appreciate english sarcastic humour also!)

So either I dont look as sweet and innocent as I think (not a chance of that I am sure!), or they were after something specific from a specific white van.

Loose pies in the back! I would have given you a ticket straight away. You know that they should have been securely fastened.
