Financial Advisors in Spain.
Suppose many of you have read this article but thought I would put it on as a warning. Says that commissions for those schemes were as high as 50,000 A lot of these Brit advisors have now moved on to pension release schemes
I know someone caught up with this. 79 yr old, property rich, cash poor. Pensions eroded, Husband dies and she was faced with large tax bill. Advisor recommended equity release...she is now back in the UK in sheltered housing

Re: Financial Advisors in Spain.
I've lived through previous recessions, both in the UK and Spain, and they all have one thing in common - charity shops and financial advisors.
I had occasion to use google street view the other day to search for something and the view must be over a year old because the estate agents and pubs shown are now charity shops.
Local expat papers are full of advertisements for financial advisors, pages upon pages of them. A lot of these papers are dubious ones themselves and have flourished since the recession started, but those pages upon pages of adverts from financial advisers are downright dangerous - equity release, pension release etc, and are not regulated in any way.
I know one such advisor who, as well as selling pension release schemes, also sells Viagra and unlicensed guns.

I know it is a serious subject, my warped, at times sense of humour laughed at the pension release option, the vigara to keep your end up or if all else fails shoot yourself
Yesterday unsolicited, I received a phone call from *******s, touting for business, helping ex pats with pension, inheritance tax, investments and saving ( no doubt relieving them of a lot of their money in the process)
It was only after the lady went off the phone I wondered how they got my number
