Today as you know Sant Roc is celebrated. We waited patiently to hear the band parading around the street and at 8.30 heard them strike up so left the house immediately. On of our neighbours kept on telling us we were going the wrong way so we had to expain that we were going the long way as a bit of excercise.
Got to the street where the procession was and met a friend who insisted that we joined her and her friends. When the procession ended we were told to stay put for the fireworks (we usually have the best view from our terrace) but for these we were only about 15 feet away. Next thing we knew we were being sent home for our bocadillos and told to return a.s.a.p. which being very obedient people we did. On our return there were tables in the street laid up with different crisps, olives etc and bottle of wine etc. Whilst we ate there was a disco for the children (again 15 feet away) and once the food was finished the adults danced so that was excercise we were not expecting. Left at 3 a.m. and it is still going strong.
Told that we have to do the same next week in another street.

WE ALL LOVE THE FIESTA !!!!

Love everything about all of the different fiesta's. For us the huge factor is the way in which we are encouraged to join in. Taking last night as an example, we only went to watch the procession and then were invited to join the people on their table, not planned, not included in the original arrangements but almost forced to join them. We are very grateful for their friendliness and the way in which they include us. What amazed us even more was the fact that we understood everything that was being said to us, got a few things wrong because we could not hear but not because we did not understand.......that was a bonus.

I must admit the friendliness, the willingness for you to join in, and the general exuberance and celebration is a real delight.
