Carrefour: Ofertas en Electrodomésticos, Moda, Alimentación, Informática..

I don't know whether they would be Spanish grown, though, one grievance the farmers have is that the prices they are being offered are being driven down by cheap imports from countries outside the EU.

That's a great price for the consumer, but I can certainly see the farmers' point.

The 10 cents a kilo is what the growers are being offered by the supermarkets, not the retail price.

Growers do not deal directly with the supermarkets but with a middleman who then sells on to supermarkets , juice makers, etc...

The supermarkets set a maximum price that they will pay, once your middleman has taken his cut what remains is what the farmer will receive.
A completely arse about face system.

Oh, right. Any idea what they retail for Lynn? The $1.80 each I mentioned was an offer/special price.

we buy 14kg of lemons at a time for €10 from a woman in the campo in alhaurin. She's got a finca full of trees. She also sells oranges and mandarins for the same price. I think it works out at 70c a kilo?

We have since found a garden centre selling local produce and they sell oranges at 3€ for 5kg. <60c/kg>

Citrus fruit heaven. I'd have a fridge full of lemon curd and orange juice at those prices!

This time of the year you can buy oranges at 70 c/ kilo in most frutarias. The price however reflects the quality and type as not all oranges are the same. Nice big juicy Navel oranges are not 70c though.
