Re: Falklands

One of the claims of the Argies is that in 1833 an Argentine whaler stopped off on the Islands to claim them, they stayed a year and that is pretty much the basis of their claim... that and the fact they are just 400 miles off their coastline. They have courted with China and Russia to support this claim but neither will publicly support them, probably because neither country has the moral high ground when it comes to owning other countries. The funny thing about their main claim is that the captain of the whaler was French and the crew were British mercenaries, but facts like that never get in the way of national pride when it comes to the Argies. I agree with whoever said that the Argies will never have the military might to invade but if they get enough support from Mercosur then an invasion may take place, they have been laughed out of the UN with their claim and Kirtchner is resting a lot of her reputation in a male dominated country on getting them back.

Its interesting to watch all the flag burning and attacking of the consulates and British shops, I have friends who live out there (English) and they say that its getting very tense. My take on it is this, let them come, Dauntless is now on its way and what she doesn't take care of then the rest can be mopped up with the defence force thats already there.

funny they only do it in the safety of their own country, mind you we have a couple of hundred students and others who could be called on to do it to here - just not so sure there are any Argentinian shops

I've said it dozens of times in various places but back "home" in the county thats been "home" for so long there are a lot of Argies working there in the polo industry and word from my friends back there is that they will be getting a very cold reception from the locals, tensions are normally quite high due to the Argies antics with the young girls of the county but I wouldn't like to be an Argie there, thats for sure

Interesting, I never looked on polo as being an industry before or that there were many ppl.taking part or getting involved.
Maybe your old county is ideal with all the flat ground.

Lucky even to find a patch of ground level enough for the beautiful game ;) up my way and as for polo players, they must be about as rare as hens teeth.

There are about 6,000 Argies employed in British Polo, according to the HPA, and I'm not talking about my home county but the heart of English Polo.

if the term "Paki" is racially unacceptable then surely "Argies" is also racially unacceptable

or Aussies or Brits,

Sorry it doesn't work like that, though I think it's been discussed umpteen times previously.

Bet there's lots of prime horse meat going to waste down there chasing that silly little chukka thing around the fields.

There is no doubt about it, you're and idiot. Here we all were discussing something in a calm, quiet, mature fashion and you, like a scalded child harbouring a grudge make an inane comment that is meant to derail and hijack yet another thread and turn it into another one of your "I'm right, you're all wrong" threads!

You keep asking me why I only tend to post one liners.... this is why, because even when you bother to make the effort there is always some knob jockey around to prove that Spain is probably the best place for you.

And good morning to you Ruby

funny thing was - I was actually reading your very well put together postings earlier on this thread thinking you may not be as big an ass as you try to make out
But now I am beginning to think that there is more than one person at your end and we have got the eejut back from the pub

it matters not one jot - if you cannot accept one piece of racism you cannot accept any.

This will be my only reply to you in this thread, I refuse to allow you to high jack yet another worthwhile thread with your inane ramblings and usual late victorian tosh. Your attempts at twisting things around to blame others is amateurish at best and trolling at worse, if you can't stay on topic, and judging by all your other contributions I'd say that was the case then don't post. Now... bye bye.
