Exchanging Filipino DL in Spain
This is just info for anyone who wants to exchange a DL in Spain.
When I came to Spain 7 years ago from Philippines I had a full DL. At that time it was not possible to exchange it for a Spanish one.
After a few years it became possible to make the change but by then my DL had expired. Only valid DL´s which have been issued before coming to Spain can be exchanged. (I understand the same applies to other DLs too. E.g. if a Brit living Spain goes to UK and passes the test, that DL cannot be exchanged)
When I went back to Phil I renewed my DL, although the authorities said it was a ´new DL´ not a renewal. Anyway the new DL had the same number.
I recently attended Trafico in Malaga and exchanged the ´new DL´ for a Spanish one.
Very straightforward.
