But not for anyone with a UK mortgage! The unexpected UK interest rate rise is what is driving the exchange rate.

Despite the continued rise in interest rates my offshore UK bank has recently reduced the rates for savers.

Although they will not admit it this is because they are now unable to impose realistic penalties and interest on people who allow their accounts to go overdrawn and I and people like me are having to pick up the tab.

Another example of everyone being dragged down the the level of the irresponsible plebs who are unable to run their own lives.

I shall have to play the exchange rate game again to make up for it.

No, if it has gone from 1.46€ to the pound to 1.50€ then it means I get 150€ instead of 146€ for every pound, that unless I´m getting denser in my retirement, means I get more money from my pension as it is paid in £ sterling

That is a very good rate but is that what you've been quoted for exchange? or is this the rate shown on the money markets which is not what you would get on a transaction

It's the highest it has been for 3 years.

For those of you old enough to remember the Peseta, today's rate is about 252 ptas/£
