Default Euro 2016 - Gibraltar home games in faro stadium

Needless to say all you ex-pat Irish and Scottish fans will have the following dates in your diary.

Gib -v- Rep. of Ireland Friday 4 September 2015, KO 7.45pm
Gib -v- Scotland Sunday, 11 October 2015, kick-off 7.45 pm

Should be plenty of goals at the Estadio Algarve.

Thats good news hopefully lots of money from the Toll charges on the motorway.
I expect that tourists will outnumber any local supporters a 100 fold.
But good to see the stadium being used for something.

We had a good draw for the group for 2016

Good Omen for the WORLD CUP, WC, (no pun intended ) for England, I hope.

Attached is a nifty spreadsheet for all the WC games. Chronological order. On the first tab select the time zone. Just to be 100% sure Ive used UK times as some games are at midnight CET and so to save confusion on the change of date at 00:00 Ive used UK time.

See attached

4‐1 defeat for Gibraltar against the Faroe Islands

The Faroe Islands beat Gibraltar 4‐1 at an International Friendly at a Victoria Stadium, which although not full to capacity, certainly emanated football fever. The match started with Gibraltar taking the lead with a goal by Team Captain, Roy Chipolina. But the celebrations were short lived and the Faroe Islands came right back with a goal by Joan Simun Edmundsson, who also plays for the Norwegian Club, Viking. The Faroe Islands, which had dominated the game, regained the lead with a second goal soon after. The scorer: Danish/Faroese Christian Lamhauge Holst, who also plays for the Danish team, Silkeborg.

Around 15 minutes into the second half, another goal for the Faroe Islands and it was the 27 year old attacker, Arnbjorn Hansen who scored the team's third goal. Their fourth goal came 5 minutes later with Holst scoring a second time.

The Faroe Islands, with a population almost double Gibraltar's, are ranked 51st by UEFA, followed only by San Marino and |Andorra. Tonight's match does not give Gibraltar (Team 54) any ranking points, as it was not played officially under UEFA. This differs to Wednesday's match against Estonia which is an official UEFA International Friendly. Estonia is ranked 50th but is a country believed to have found its feet at the top level. One of its claims to fame is a five nil win against the Faroe Islands.

This match will also be broadcast live by GBC Television.
