So how can you think he means £8500 (cash) in 19 years time? Or am I missing something? Hi. I am desperate to retire to Spain. Unfortunately there is a small problem and this is retirement is some 19 years away. Allowing for a sensible rate of inflation my yearly pensionable income will be £8500 pre-tax. Can anyone tell me if this will cover the basics/necessities please. Thanks very much, Mark |

Maybe the red text influenced it a bit.

The unanswerable one you mean!
I`ll remember in 2026 to remind you of your mistake, but until then we look at history. Financial circumstances have never reversed. 19 years ago i believe your income and mine was far lower than today. 19 years before then it was far lower etc etc etc so its a far bet that unless Spain becomes a third world country in 19 years, 8,500 will be worth far less than today. If you don`t believe me ask a pension advisor, once he`s stopped laughing he/she will explaining it to you.;) |

Where this obviously confused statement was clarified?? Sorry I should have been more clear. I did mean the equivalent of £8500. Thankyou for your response, Mark Confirms it ? now if he had put "in today`s values" after then it would of meant something totally different. We probably live on about that amount, so if prices etc stay balanced for 19 years then he will be ok. |
