Enough Income

Re: Enough Income
Do you guys just ignore all my posts?
I'd already established it would be the equivalent of £8.5k - (i.e. £8.5k today plus a rise for inflation)
I think it would be a fair assumption to make that if the £8.5k figure is OK today it's equivalent would be OK in a few years - why all the sit on the fence act, you're not normally so slow in expressing an opinion - give the guy a break.

Re: Enough Income
Well usually we draw on our opinions based on some kind of experience ourselves or known experience of others. Nobody can say what Spain will be in 19 years time. That might be more than enough, it might be nowhere near enough. Guessing more than 2 or 3 years in advance is just that, guessing.

Fair point, but is guessing not all the guy would expect - I seriously doubt he would imagine anyone of to have recently travelled back from the future and provide him with a breakdown of daily living costs in 2026.
So based on your experiences in Spain now - would an income of £8.5k provide a good, bad or indifferent standard of living - and in what circumstances - Penthouse on the harbour in Marbella with couple of servants or a rundown apartment inland with a meagre existance??

Well it's easily possible if there is no rent/mortgage to pay. It's possible on a tight budget if it's with rent or a mortgage. I don't imagine life would be so enjoyable though.

Hi. I am desperate to retire to Spain. Unfortunately there is a small problem and this is retirement is some 19 years away. Allowing for a sensible rate of inflation my yearly pensionable income will be £8500 pre-tax. Can anyone tell me if this will cover the basics/necessities please.
Thanks very much,
Mark
