Default English football team..

..for once is looking good!

I know, I know. Only a friendly. But maybe, just maybe, if we avoid injuries to players like Wilshire, Rooney and Walcott, we can put in a decent display next year at the WC. Or am I deluding myself?

Best performance for a while.
Central defence looks suspect to me.

I think football teams should have no reference to the country they are in as few have only players from that country

You are deluding yourself I am afraid. As we all do. I have even got tickets for Montenegro and San Marino games and will probably be left wondering why I bothered.

J1 is spot on about the central defence and the RB was out of position too often as well.

A good side, which Brazil weren't last night, will cut that defence to shreds if they play like that.

That's about right.
To be fair they are trying to play a slicker style of football than usual, but their defensive weaknesses will likely be their undoing when the chips are down.

On a more serious note, how about this ?
The most brutal foul in football history !

Followed by what surely must be the dumbest piece of goalkeeping in football history.

A win is a win, and a great performance. But one swallow does not make a summer.

Agree, England can only play the team that turns up on the night, nobody much gave them a chance against Spain or Brazil, but both wins. I'm sure they'll take that! They'll know better than anyone they are long way from being the finished article.

Yes, they can beat the best teams in the world - in friendlies. Maybe it's the pressure of competition that they can't handle?

Friendly wins do not matter one bit. Otherwise we would be saying that Sweden are better than England

Also, this is probably the worst Brazil side in history. They are ranked 28th in the World

The big match the other night was the one between the European/World Champions and the South American Champions. Spain beat Uruguay 3-1

has England managed to get a team that can play for the full 90 minutes without flagging after the first half ? ?
many is the time they have seemed on top of the world and leading 1-0 at halftime to come out and wander around like a bunch of old men and lose.

or is it they have a full blown 3 course meal with lapdancers during halftime ??
