Default Endesa Bill Dec

Hi all,

Like many at CE, we use Endesa for electric supply - we had a unusally high bill this month of 96 euro's for the month.
Like many we don't use our apartment over winter, and the electric is turned off.

I monitor the bills and in previous years the bills drop to approx 15 euro's a month in previous years.

The rest of the year has been as expected, we get higher bills in Aug (air con on) and when we or guests visit the apartment.

I thought they had auto meter reading as the bills reflect usage immediatly - or perhaps they do have someone come round every month and he simply entered the wrong number.

thought it would be worthwhile mentioning to the wider community to see if anyone else had come across this issue.

Secondary question - has anyone switched to another supplier? Endesa's bills look very expensive giving the low useage ...

If you look at other Endesa threads on the Spanish Forum you will find this kind of thing is not unusual. It happened to us a few years ago and it took ages to sort it but we did get our refund €400 eventually. We now read our meter every two months and report it in to the Endesa office sometimes they agree sometimes not but they do use ours. You must try to get a full twelve months of true readings since they use a COMPUTOR to estimate when they don't bother to do a reading and if last year at this time they were high IT just multiplies it up. Also you are probably on a regulated tarrif so you will not be able to make savings with another operator but IBERADOLA (spelling) have good reports. But do get your money sorted before moving since they seem to be reluctant to pay back once you have closed your account. You should also be aware that they have government permission to retrospectively increase their charges and call for the under payments at about this time.

Thanks - this makes sense - we have had 4 years of readings. first time it's looks completely out of normal - must be an IT glitch .. Alandeve

Yes I have had a high reading from them this month but it is shown s an estimate! This also happened a few years ago as well and they just took the standing charge until the electric caught . Re submitting your own reading online I tried this before but when it was below their estimate it would not accept it online?

you have a short time window to submit your reading probably about a week they have never refused ours except one time we submitted a reading slightly higher than theirs and they ignored it. We always submit at the Endesa shop since the online you could not submit a dual reading Punta & Valle but looking last week it now appears you can and we were going to try on our two month reading in January.

€96? You're lucky. We've had bills upwards of €600 for actual consumption of about €70. Switching suppliers doesn't help - the tariffs are regulated by law, and depending on where you are, none of them actually read the meter except maybe once per year (even though it's required by law to read your meter every 2 months), so they all "estimate" your consumption, usually erroneously, and sometimes massively in their favour. They all do their very best to avoid reimbursement or refunds. Endesa still owes us nearly €2000, but we'll never get it back.

First thing we learned was to stop all direct debits, so they can't take the money for their inflated "estimado" facturas and refuse to refund it. We pay the facturas online ONLY after Endesa have accepted the actual meter readings, which are usually rejected if you have peak/off-peak tariff and attempt enter them online (we usually get "rejected because the reading is not consistent with your consumption" message when entering the meter readings online). So you have to go to the local office and make them enter the correct meter readings there.

It's a pain in the arse, but it can save you 1000's, as we have learnt.

Hi, I can quite honestly say the in the 4 1/2 yrs we have lived here we have never had a problem with our Endesa bills. We pay by DD and although the one over Dec is a bit more than usual ( because it is estimated) the next bill (which is read) is lower. Regards Bryony

Hi

I've been looking at the electricity bills (all bills in fact).

We have
  1. Potencia - I think this is the standing charge for the max amount of KW's we have chosen to take off the grid. Is this correct please?
  2. Consumo - the consumption.
  3. Ajuste
  4. Ajuste These are some estimate adjustments please?
  5. Impto. Electricidad. Some other standing charge?
  6. Equipos de medida This is a standing charge I think.
Then IVA.

The electricity is 14.78 cents / KW/H

I'm assuming everything else than consumo and ajuste's (2,3 and 4) are standing charges - is this right please?

I don't think we have dual tariff.

Could someone tell me what the dual tarrif rate is, please and how easy it is to change? What time is it switched on please?

Thanks in advance

Jon

Yes, potencia is the main monthly standing charge.

Consumo is the actual consumption in kWh

Ajuste are additional charges that are as a result of the government allowing the electricity companies to make some retrospective increases. They should not appear from now on.

Impto Electricidad is a special tax that is always applied.

Equipos de medida is a monthly meter rental charge.

IVA is VAT

No, you don’t have the dual tariff (Discriminacion Horario).

It is normally possible to change but there is always a possibility that they may require a new “Boletin” to prove that your installation is OK and you must have the modern square meter box to allow room for the extra equipment. This usually only applies to older installations.

With the dual tariff you pay more for your peak consumption and significantly less for the off peak consumption. The cheap rate is from 10pm to midday – 14 hours in total. In summer it is an hour later.

The current normal rate is .150938 and the dual tariff rates are .183228 and 0.06377. The standing charge is the same.

It is well worth doing and the savings can be very significant.

Just had a bill for December of 400 Euro - we were in England most of the time. I would have expected well less than 100.

I write down our water and electric meter readings every day (sad huh?) and the estimated reading this month is pure fantasy.

We have two items on the bill Ajuste Precios 4 2011 and 1 2012. These have appeared for the same amounts (the two total about 40 Euro) for the last three months. Are you (Fred) saying that they should not appear again?

We did not rent our house that far back so what I am doing is subtracting those amounts (+IVA) before paying the owner. Is that right? I don't want to diddle her...

I thought that they had collected all the back payments by the end of the year but I am not 100% certain of that as we are on a totally different tariff as we are over 10kw potencia.

Mind looks like I have another bill coming not as big but still confusing as it states in November Lectura CLIENTE 29/11/2012 Then in dec Lectura Estimada. I am presuming the Cliente means a client reading? well I never gave them one???? I think I will be printing my bills off checking my meter reading and visiting the Endesa shop in March when I am over next. Not had a problem for 5 years but confused now.
