Yes 112 should be it however don't know if it works same in Spain but in the UK where of course it is 999, even if someone dials 112 or 911 (American) they will still go through to Emergency operator as I say don't know if it would work same in Spain.

In my street a neighbour had a heart attack and the family called 112. It took 30 minutes for the ambulance to come and it was too late to save him. They were told by the funeral company that it is always quicker to dial 062. I had not heard of this before so don't know if it is only in this area (in Andalucia) or national. I have since noticed that this is the phone number painted on the ambulances, and 061 on the police vehicles.

We bought our monitored alarm system from Alart 24. Just press a button for fast response from an english speaking operator on call 24/7 trained to handle any emergency.
If you have a family member at risk this may be a small price to pay for a potential life saver?

I would imagine it's almost impossible to give a "standard" response time as it must vary so much depending on where you live and how far away the nearest ambulance station is. Although I live in a large town and the main regional hospital is only 5 minutes away by road, there is no vehicular access to the part of town my house is in (medieval quarter with narrow, stepped cobbled streets) so the ambulances have to park up in the nearest plaza and proceed on foot from there. Only yesterday we saw a man being wheeled down the street on a gurney by the ambulance personnel, helped by 3 or 4 neighbours. That alone could add 5 or 10 minutes to the time it takes to reach a house in a location like this.

Emergency services will not come to us - we have to go into town and then escort them back to the house.
Yes we live in the campo but on the MAIN road - directions are really simple!!!
We've decided that if we have a real emergency, then one of us will take the other and just hope.

Have taken my OH to hospital on numerous emergencies not calling the ambulance because the ambulance station is near to the hospital so I am probably quicker doing it myself. Called the ambulance out twice due to not being able to manage to get him to the car and they were quick and efficient.

We did what we could and made her comfortable enough to await the ambulance. It arrived 30 minutes later and we watched her die before their arrival.
If this had been in an isolated place like Frigliana, it could have been understood, bad as it was, but this was in a city with two modern hospitals, but a non-functioning emergency ambulance service.

It's quite a few years back now when the UK emergency number was still only 999.
I spotted a bad house fire with nobody else around in my local area of Valencia and frantically dialled 911 on several occasions with no response, before thinking maybe I'd been watching too many US disaster movies and recalled the correct Spanish number.
Didn't make much difference anyway, as it was all over and burnt out when the fire brigade finally arrived almost three hours later.
Maybe it was the Chicago fire brigade that eventually turned up.

Re: Emergency Services Tel Numbers
Dick it obviously doesn't work the same way in Spain but in UK they do announce it as whatever number it is 112 911 but still put it through as an emergency. I worked for some time in a police control room. As for response times being in a city depending on time of day does not always mean a super quick response. One Saturday summers night in the very centre of a City centre I was on duty and giving assistance to a collapsed female who was unconscious and fitting a colleague requested an ambulance 30 mins later no ambulance, she then stopped breathing and I had to resuscitate her still no ambulance. 40 minutes it took in the end reason why?? all ambulance crews in the City centre busy dealing with drunks! Thanks Mr Blair for the change to licensing laws to promote " the European cafe culture" unfortunately most the morons in the UK don't have a clue what that is and just drink to oblivion tying up the emergency services.
