Our friends paid 2 arms and three legs for an all singing and dancing TV before they moved out to Spain, worked great with their sky box but could not get sound on Spanish terrestial TV until they had a digital aerial put up, all is working fine know.

Beachcomber

Yeah I know.

But I think in a lot of cases Sevillana is as much sinned against as a sinner. In my area it was not uncommon for a supply line designed for to meet a fixed number of users to have two or three times that number due to illegal connections.

When I first arrived in Chiclana I was amazed at the number of "lucky" people who were having their electricity paid for by their builders and was quite envious. Its only now that the chickens have come home to roost and many have found out that not only were they not paying but neither were their builders.

It caused an enormous amount of heartache and tragedy but reading various mails it seems that a number of projects have sprung that will provide solutions fairly soon. Here's hoping so.

If you buy a TDT box and connect it with a euroconnector it doesn't matter if the TV has an adjustable sound standard or not.

Bigger Jim, granted, there are also many illegal connections in the area where I live but this has to depend on the co-operation of a Sevillana employee because the transformer is housed in a locked building for which you need a key to get in and switch off the power whilst the illegal connection is being made.

Hi Beachcomber,

I have seen live jointing done in UK on 440 volt cables where the jointer stood on a rubber car matt in a wet hole in the ground and wearing rubber boots and heavy duty rubber gloves jointed a cable after it had left the step down transformer house.

So if they are brave enough it can be done rather them than me!

Regards,

John.
