For the past few years since BMI stopped flying from Heathrow to Alicante I have been using Easyjet. My preferred route (because of the flight times) has been Stansted to Valencia and I have to say, after making about 30 return flights, I have never had a problem. Not one delayed or cancelled flight and trouble free flights. However now Easyjet are no longer flying this route I am considering trying Ryanair. How do the airlines compare and has anyone had any problems with Ryanair. All feed back gratefully recieved.

I've flown Ryanair around 10 times and never had any problems. Its when problems occur (or so I've heard) that lodging a compliant, getting refunded is almost impossible.
The flights have always been on time, but i wish they would do something about the interior of the planes, my eyes were going around in circles after suffering the bright yellowness all the way to Morocco!
I've also flown easyjet many times and I always choose the one which suits my schedule.

Ryanair is pulling out of Valencia anyway, they say for the Winter but I spoke to Ryanair staff yesterday and they said they find it unlikely it will go back unless landing fees are reduced

I have flown Ryanair Stansted to Valencia for the last 3 years using Ryanair - probably 50 return trips. Not once have I had a delay longer than 1 hour and most times they arrive early.
I travel light, check in on line and have hand baggage only so Ryanair is always by far the lowest cost and no queues for check in. If Easyjet were lower cost I would use them.
I know Ryanair said they were stopping flying to Valencia this winter and it wasn't possible to book in December or January, but today I looked at they are takingbookings again.
Read the small print with Ryanair when you book, they are masters of extracting cash from you.
I see the latest email flight reminders from them stress several times that only one carry on bag is allowed and this has to include handbag, computer and duty free - with max size & weight. I can see people being turned away at the gate if they are over the limit and by that time it will be too late to check in the bag

Exactly what happened to me yesterday we had 4 bags and ive always got away with it in a Spanish airport, anyway, checked in through security at gate past the police bit, then one jobsworth ***** stopped me and said you have 2 bags I said yes one mine one my partners, where is your partner "she allready gone through" they knew exactly who she was and wouldnt have it, they let me take all 4 bags on but I had to pay 40 Euro Cash before boarding, gutted I was but was grateful they handled it that way I suppose, Me personally would have left the case with no value but my bird wouldnt

They are getting heavier on it, I see people yesterday Queing at the ryanair pay desk, but they now get to the gate earlier and open it earlier to turn people away with bags.

That was Valencia, on a good note the flight was only 1Hr 51 min, a massive saving on alicante flights

dont forget ryanair pay one hight fuel bills in the Eu when that waited to see if the price oil could come down but it just keep going up and up with pay 120 dollers while BA IE RE AF end up with around 75 - 85 dollors a Barrel

You amuse me so much Jurdyr I have just booked you two first class seats on ZOOM to the Turks And Caucus Islands .....No I know I'm generous but your worth it. Enjoy

Until recently (due to the economy) I was using Ryan or Easyjet upto 2-3 times a week without any problems what so ever.

They're cheap, because they cut out a lot of the stuff everyone takes for granted or you have to pay extra.. But if you read their t&c carefully and you're not expecting BA Business Class then I can't see a problem with either.

Sure I've been delayed in the past, sure you sometimes have to get a free shuttle service into the town they say you're flying into, but you get what you pay for and they've saved me thousands of pounds in the past!

I've booked half a dozen flights with Ryanair over the last year; saved me a lot of money too. Like others above, I carry one bag and check in on-line - save loads, only to get ripped off on the food and drinks.

Never had more than a few minutes delay, they are more likely to arrive early.

Take your own drink on board buy a botttle of wine like i do for 2€ or less at the airport, I know they say to refrain from drinking and eating food you bought on but they not really able to stop you.

Esp if you fly from Valencia as its only a real quick flight and the bar is next to the Gate

One Ryanair plane was struck by Lightning last night on its way to Madrid, god that might be scary, had to make emergency landing at Stansted

Ryanairs FAQ says:

"Passengers are welcome to bring their own food on board, however, in the interest of safety passengers are prohibited from carrying hot drinks on board.
Passengers are prohibited from consuming their own alcohol onboard. Although we do recommend that all passengers keep cabin baggage to a minimum, alcohol may be carried onboard as long as the bottle is sealed and remains sealed throughout the flight."

I guess Andy is a bit of a maverick.

I would always choose to go easyjet rather than ryanair on a like for like route;

Ryanair are always rigid with their very strict cash extraction policies as previous posters have stated, I find easyjet is a more customer friendly experience.

That said, Ryanairs punctuality in my experience seems to be far superior to easyjet, who rarely board and take off on time.
