Default Easyjet & Co, flight schedules

I've been away from Spain for a while so didn't see this happen...

I'll be back in the UK for a family Christmas and will be going to visit Malaga while I'm there. When I left Spain there were daily flights - now it's down to 3 days per week

It's actually easier (though a lot more expensive) to book flights from Santiago than it is from Málaga now.

Have Spain-UK schedules in general been slashed? I'll have to look at other options.

This happens every year, it's simply a case of supply & demand.
Not as many people want to fly to Malaga in the winter & more people want to visit ski resorts, so the plane destinations get swapped around.

Ah, but it wasn't always as bad as this. I lived & worked in Málaga for years, used to fly back to the UK every Christmas and always had a choice of flights 6 or 7 days of the week.

All flights have been slashed across the board

Up here in Asturias you pretty much can't fly to anywhere now! And those flights they do have are very expensive. We are going to Malaga this Christmas, Vueling wanted 1,000 euros for 2 adults and 2 children!

There is a search engine specifically for low cost airlines. Several companies cover the route. If you avoid Christmas and New Year the prices may not be too bad.

Low Cost Airlines & more | WhichAirline.com

Of course it could snow and everything would stop anyway.

Thanks - great site! I found those airfrance / KLM ones searching atrapalo but I didn't know there was a search engine that covered the low cost ones as well - very useful.

We fly in and out of Asturias a couple of times per year and haven't noticed any big changes. Other than the general rise in prices you see from/to anywhere.

Was that Vueling price the total or for each passenger? If it's the total, then 1000 for four people doesn't seem so bad. Naturally, it's going more expensive at Christmas time.

We flew Vueling from Asturias to Italy this summer and the price seemed pretty reasonable. I can't remember exactly, but I think it was around 200 euro each.

The Crisis done the damage, the businesses do not send sales staff hither and tither, the locals can't afford to travel either and tourism takes a dive. Everybody goes into hibernation mode. No business = no flights.

The number of flights and destinations from Asturias is probably half the number as 10 years ago

Yes 1,000 euros for 3 passengers plus 1 baby. Sounds expensive to me for a 1 hour flight. We will be driving instead, costs around 200 euros. Although of course it is about 6 hours longer each way
