Earth Hour has done a lot to raise awareness of sustainability issues. But thereâ€™s more to it than switching off lights for one hour once a year. Itâ€™s all about giving people a voice and working together to create a better future for our planet.

Raise awareness amongst whom?

It's the emptiest of empty gestures. It seems to me to be a sop to people's conscience - a way of making people feel they are doing something positive. The whole green movement is gesture-heavy and action-light.
