E4 and More4 are now free - C4 soon
E4 and its +1 service, and More4 and its +1 service are now FTA.
You do not need a sky viewing card to view these channels. They are now free to watch - as long as you have the relevant dish size!
Expecting Channel4 to go free in the next hour or so.
Also, ITV HD will not be available on Sky HD boxes for thre foreseeable future.

Do you think Sky will ever make sky+ record function available without subscription card. I think it is so tight of them to block us from recording the free stuff to watch later. I read somewhere that pressure from competition might make them change their policy.

Not for a while, but i hear rumours that they may drop the £10 HD subscription for their clients who subscribe to their the Sports or Movie channels - Sky+ started like this first so who knows what wil happen in a few years.
Remember Sky are making you pay for providing a service provided by their EPG, which they have very right to do. If you do not want to use their service you can quite happily buy a HHD or DVD recorder to do the same job,
Similarly you do not need a Sky decoder to watch free channels on satellite. Any FTA decoder will suffice, but will lack the easy friendlyness of the Sky EPG (they only have now and next programme data, channel number not be the same as Skys, any frequeny changes you wil have to update the decoder manually), and they may not be effective to get those tricky weaker BBC / ITV signals.
So there is an alternative if you do not want to pay Sky for using their recording functions, but it is not as simple to use as the Sky EPG.

There are advantages though. Rather than being dictated to by Sky, you can place channels in whatever order you like, and delete all those annoying shopping channels etc.
A decent FTA receiver should be MORE effective in getting weaker signals
