Default Driving in Spain - in crocs

Found an old thread about driving in flip flops but it's closed.

Does anyone know how the Guardia etc react to drivers wearing crocs, the style with a moveable bar which can make them into a sling back type shoe?

Anyone had or heard of any problems?

I don't like to do it because they don't grip my feet properly, and they slip a little on the pedal. I could all too easily see them causing an accident.

Yes, they are on prescription, you wouldn't normally such hideous things unless they were medically prescribed, would you?

I do!

They are one of the most comfortable 'shoe' that I've ever worn - especially having a bad back.

NOT allowed to drive in them though - it's probably all down to interpretation but why take the chance?

actually they are brilliant indoors in place of slippers in winter

they are way too hot in summer

I totally agree with snikpoh - I have hip problems & they are amazingly good for that!

Hmmmm. Oddly, I couldn't give the proverbial rat's airse what anyone might think about what I have on my feet. I have fairly wide feet, and they allow me to be comfortable. I buy the cheap Lidl/Chinese ones, and basically wear them till they fall apart.

Normal shoes are far too hot in the summer, but flip flops don't give protection when you are down on your hands and knees weeding, and rubbing the tops of your toes raw is no joke.

I'll drive in sandals which grip my feet firmly.

I've told Mrs. J that if she ever wears crocs I'm off. Or leggings for that matter.

I like mine too wear them all the time for pool duty and don't loose them with the bar up but they float anyway so would not matter. Bit clunkie for heel and toeing though.

Fortunately my wife shares my thoughts, and yours, on this orthopaedic type footwear. Men look silly enough, and I think the women look even worse, but at least they have the caliper removed. For the complete wally look, a baseball cap reversed is essential.
As for leggings, I've learnt there are jeggings as well, which are made of jeans material, another one for you to dislike!

Crocs can look a tad odd. I learnt tho at an early age that comfort in foot wear seldom causes corns, bunions or deformities, but fashion mostly does.

So, I opt for comfort. Foot deformities are created in a frighteningly short time, and you can be stuck with them for a lifetime.

I'm with you on this. I have seen whole families wearing what I can only describe as the ugliest footwear ever designed.
Leggings are fine if you have the legs for them. Unfortunately most who wear them haven't.
Although I suspect I'm in the minority, men in below the knee shorts are usually old enough and/or short enough to know better

I thought foor wear had to be strapped on so crocs with back strap in place should be ok.

I am in the can't see the attraction of them group, I looked at them a long time ago and the price was ridiculous for, in my mind, the hideous looking things. I like comfort but with some style they are clumpy plastic looking things. Personally I would rather go barefeet anyway and do a lot of the time.
