Default Driving licence Swap (Auto)

Does anyone have experience swapping a UK Automatic only license for a Spanish license? Will it be upgraded to full, get rejected as Spain doesnt have Auto only licenses or will it be swapped with the Automatic restriction code?

Hola
Unless there has been a change in the law, then Spain doesn't recognise the automatic only licence.

Sure, so what does that mean in practicality? Will I need to sit a full Spanish driving test or can I hang onto this UK one some way?

As it looks like we are going to exit the EU, your UK licence will be invalid from Brexit day + 1 unless you register your intentions now.

TBH, I thought Spain DID recognise auto licences now. Due to a change in the law, it certainly distinguishes between geared motorbikes (less than 50cc) and scooters of the same size.

Hola

If you can pass a driving test in Gibraltar / UK with a geared (non-automatic) car then all is OK. From memory, the UK is the only country that has an Automatic only licence.
