Does anyone know which airlines flying from England to Alicante will let you take small dogs in boxes with you onboard?

No airline will allow that Im afraid! Animals have to go in the hold with the luggage........not nice I know and I would not put my dog through that again.

Hiya
Oh me- now im really confused !!!
We leave for Spain on Thur am and have booked the dog also on the flight. We have gone for an early flight as she would normally not be active at this time etc - ! We took ages to decided whether to fly or drive the dog over - but in the end felt in the current heat etc - although it is not going to be pleasant - its a dam shorter journey than driving!!!

Hi all you new arrivals good luck for the future. My only piece of advice re your dogs is the earlier you can after arrival in Spain Take your dog to your local vet and get him/her a white plastic Leishmania collar that goes next to the normal collar but against the skin it can save your dogs life, Do not buy them from the supermarket. You will also need a heartworm injection. And Frontline which prevents ticks etc. Supermarkets sell like products but they are not of sufficient strength your vet will explain.

Our friends' dog (a Belgian Shepherd) goes in her cage in the pressurised hold for the flight and comes out on the conveyor belt with the luggage. She travels this way 3 or 4 times a year and doesn't seem to mind, although I know that some animals need a tranquilliser beforehand (but then again so do some people).
I don't think there is any airline that will allow you to take an animal on-board.

BA will fly from Cardiff to Alicante with pet in hold, you need to talk to there cargo section. The vet advised us not to give our cat any type of pill at all, instead she suggested a herbal tablet instead which she took for about 2 weeks prior to travel. I hated her travelling, and would never do it again.
Hope that helps

Many airlines flying from other EU countries than he UK will allow you to have dogs and cats in the cabin with you, according to a German neighbour who always brings his cat with him.

All this is precisely why we are having ours driven down.
Frontline is a damn sight cheaper on the internet (£24 for a mid range 6 application box) than we were offered by our vet (£50 no less!!!!)
What's the price range in Spain??

Foreign airlines can let you fly from the UK with small animals in the airplane, but no airline can let you fly back to the UK that way.
Other option I have found is to take the train to Dover or Portsmouth, then the Ferry to France and then either train to Spain (can use the Train Hotel from Paris to Madrid) or fly from within France, you can do the same on the return. However flying to Spain and taking the train back would be easier. I have found it cheaper than sending the dog by car courier and it does not take that long even from Malaga now Renfe has highspeed trains. Plus the animal is with you all the time. You are limited to very small animals though.
Oh and it was my understanding that the airport vet is not supposed to let sedated dogs fly, so best check that advice.
