In the UK, we have an identity tag for our dog. When we move, do we need one in Spain? Is it a legal requirement?

I'm not sure about the tag, you need one to show it's rabies jab is valid and it needs to be chipped.
There is much more advisable, much more than the UK. I suggest a google or two.

Yes snikpoh I think so. Just trying to understand the address layout. Is it street name followed by house number on line 1, then town line 2, then the numbers - are they the equivalent to a postcode? And is that all?

That sounds about right for an address format, ours just have name, that they are neutered and both our phone numbers.

All dogs (cats and ferrets) must be microchipped. That gives address and owner details. They can be scanned by the police and any vet.
There is no requirement for a collar tag. That said, if the dog has a collar and even just its name, anyone who finds it will know it is a pet and take it to the police or a vet for identification.
The only record of whether a dog has had its rabies jab will be in the Pet Passport which, again you are required by law to have.

It may be optional - our cats certainly don't have one and they are vaccinated every year. It could just be a nice little earner for the vet!
What evidence do you have for it being compulsory and when did it start to be required?

think it may be the vets Expedito didn't do one of ours, but the vets at Caleta did the other, paid for by Axarquia rescue methinks.
He has lost it subsequently.

We use Expedito and he has never mentioned it to us. He didn't even charge me for our last passport.

I can't get her passport until she has the rabies jab, so that is in Sept. What is Expedito?

I would put one on, I see so many posts on FB about people losing their dog, when asked if it had a tag, the answer is often no ''but it is microchipped'' which is only helpful if someone finding your dog is willing to take it to a vet to be scanned, and a lot of people wont, but would be more than happy to phone
