doctors and dentists
My hubby and i moved to las chapas a short while ago and we have just started to pay social sec payments. How does it work with getting a doctor and dentist should we need one.
In the Uk i know you just go to your nearest one and get registered. How does it work here. Also with regards to pregnancy... do you just go to the hospital and get treated as if it was in the UK. We are not residents, but we do have nie numbers now xx Thanks for the advice |

Re: doctors and dentists
For a start there is nothing else but private dentistry in Spain. There is no NHS dentist equivalent. As for doctors, I dont know the score.

My dentist has her standard rate of fees and she doesnt even care if you are resident or non-resident as there is no state funding so as far as I know everybody pays the same and it is just a case of if or how they are covered by a dental care scheme.

Can you give an insight into this Standard rate, if possible, ta
Last work I had done was fitting a gold crown to a lower molar which cost €300 all in over 2 visits, one prep and temp crown then back to have finished crown fitted. Root canal work had been done earlier in UK at extortionate rates. |

so you would be safe to assume that in Spain its not as expensive by a long shot to the UK, ta
I choose my dentist with many things in mind. There are more expensive dentists in Spain including some advertising widely around Marbella so as with everything you need to shop around and make your choice. |

You need an E106 from the UK, then when registered on the Padron, and with residencia and registration with social seguridad here you go to your nearest health centre and register.. OR you just start paying private health insurance and register with you local private health centre.
If they have started paying social security here in Spain (as they say), then all they need do is go to the social centre with proof of this (salary slips or at least proof of payment), copies of everything 9passports, padron, residencia etc.) and they should automatically get a SIP card. |
Re: doctors and dentists
My dentist tells me she`s half the price of the UK and a third of that in Scandanavia:thumbsup:hence many Swedes etc get their teeth done on holiday!!
