Hi folks,
New to the site. I recently obtained Spanish citizenship via my father who was born in Spain through the Spanish consulate in London. I have a Spanish passport, but no DNI. I am a bit confused as to how I can get a DNI and was hoping you may be able to help?
Am I able to get it from the consulate in London, or do I have to actually be in Spain and get it from the Policia Nacional?
Has anyone ever done this, if so what advice would you give?
Muchas gracias!

Doesn't your passport already have the DNI number in it on the photo page, item (11) ID. No. ?
Anyway, here's the info - if you need the card you have to book an appointment at a police station in Spain and go there. It looks like you need your birth certificate (maybe with Hague Apostille), residency certificate from the town council (no idea what the UK equivalent is), certificate from the consulate (certificado de la Representación Consular), and photo. Probably best if you check with the Spanish Consulate in the UK first so you're not turned away because something's missing or wrong.
