Apparently, if you have a digital certificate and you are already registered on your local padron but you want a recent copy (eg buying a new car etc) you can print it off yourself if your town hall is connected into the system -

I have to admit to not actually having done it but am reliably told it works!

For the record you don't actually need a padron to buy a car, only proof of address which can be your property deeds or a rental agreement, remember ANYBODY can buy a car not not just residents but only they are allowed to be on a padron.
If a dealer won't accept deeds or a rental agreement then threaten to walk away, in the face of a lost sale they they will soon change their mind!
BTW you don't need it for the new TIE applications either https://www.lamoncloa.gob.es/lang/en...EXIT%20eng.pdf

Good point about the stamp, not sure how that works. Anybody actually printed one out?
You need it for TIE if you have moved house since your last residencia according to Fred (posted on another thread)
Last time I bought a car the dealer wanted an uptodate padron but I agree if non-residents can buy a car then it cannot be obligatory.

When I bought a motorbike as a non resident they said they wanted a padron certificate but I wasn't on the padron and didn't want to sign on it. They said a copy of the escritura would be OK so that's what I used. I think really it's just proof of address to register vehicle at. As always it will depend on area of applying and who deals with it.

We did it in Torrevieja using CL@VE instead of a digital signature. The resultant emailed Padron is all legal and above board.

thanks Steve.
Also - Regarding official stamp query -
My original source tells me - 'it has a special code on it which can be verified, e.g. They scan it and it says on their database "printed by (name) - Aug 12", you generate the pdf and then that's valid for several days after the print date. Each generated pdf is unique and with that code can be traced and verified.'
My God, the official stamp can be bypassed hahahahah!

Must admit I loved using our official company stamp when we had an SL company!
Another BTW - some of these modern electronic functions only work with the right combination of operating system/browser/Java but don't ask me what the magical combination is so always try these options but if they don't work it may be that you have not hit the magic combination.
