Default Dentist Costs

Ok I need to see a dentist pretty urgent, Haven't seen one since I moved here and I am in quite a bit of pain. I think I need lots of work done to be honest I suffer overcrowding, crooked teeth, wisdom teeth hurting etc.
Whats the cost for:

Appointment
Removal Of Teeth
Brace(maybe?)

I have no idea, don't want to bother with appointment if I cannot afford. Also do I need to have NIE or will a passport do?

Hey Fuzz,

Our dentist doesn't charge for an initial appointment. During this appointment, he checks out your teeth and tells you what needs to be done and the costs for work to be carried out. You do not have to have NIE numbers or passport as it is a private practice. His practice is in Calpe and he's South African, so speaks English.

Let me know if you need his telephone number and details.

I had to go to a dentist because I lost a crown recently - total cost €282 for that I had x-rays taken, new crown made and fitted all done the same day without having made an earlier appointment. OK went in at 10.20 and left and 15.30 but the service was absolutely brilliant. Spanish dentist but we managed to understand each other! This was in Albir.

Hi Mitzy,

Considering the fact that Michael and I hate going to the Dentist, he's exceptionally good. I had a root canal and Michael had some extensive work done.

His surgery is in Clinica Britannia (where there are a variety of doctors, ie GP, Gyno, ENT Specialists, etc). The address is Avenida Ejercitos Españoles, 16 (two doors away from Banco Halifax) in Calpe. His name is Joel Weinberg and the telephone number for the practice is 96 583 75 53.

I managed to break a crown whilst shopping in a diy store, banged it against trolley! Managed to catch the bits and save them. Walked into a dentist in the next village, worrying about my Spanish and a forced lisp (!), smiled at the receptionist who immediately decided that it was an emergency and took me straight in to the dentist. He proceeded to somehow reconstruct the crown, while I am laying there worrying about how much money I had on me! Took maybe forty minutes, his English was very good and totally unexpected as this is a very Spanish and rural area. The cost was €30!!
I went back a month or so later with an unrelated infection. Again no appointment. While am am waiting, the Dentist asked what the problem was and wrote a prescription there and then. €3. No complaints at all.
Regards
Tim

Here in Galicia you are not charged to have teeth removed. After seeing the dentist you can have the tooth removed at the dentists, the local hospital or at the doctor's surgery. There maybe something similar where you are. A friend of ours wanted a tooth removed but the dentist would not do it as it meant he would receive no money. He ended up going to the hospital.

From what I've seen there's not many Brits here who have any teeth left to remove!

This is the reason why we are going back to UK for short visit in December. Our middle son, aged 6, has decided to defy the odds - he lost a milk tooth, the new adult tooth has started to come through, but on visiting our UK dentist at the beginning of the month, dentist has said it is not his adult tooth but a peg tooth which needs to be removed. His adult tooth is above the peg tooth. He therefore needs this tooth removed hence our visit back to the UK. I will never go to see a Spanish dentist after my OH had a really bad experience. We kept up our Denplan.

I saw a brilliant dentist in Torrievieja, I had problems for a while mainly caused by twice top edging a cricket ball straight into my mouth

I had 2 crowns left at the front and then broke one of those off

I did see a dentist in the UK, but decided to have my treatment in Spain
it was a German dentist who after a free examination decided with me the course of treatment

I needed a plate consisting of 14 teeth built over my remaining stumps
he had to remove 5 Abcesses, removed all my old Amalgum fillings,Over the course of the treatment I had 19 injections and one rotten tooth removed
once the plate was fitted he then used a laser to weld it to my own stumps then I had a course of tooth whitening so my original teeth matched my new ones

Total cost? €3,500, half up front the remaining half paid when I was happy
