A couple of years ago the expats were trying to get their Disability Living Allowance/Attendance Allowance/Carers Allowance reinstated, the expats in Spain in particular worked very hard on behalf of these people. I was living in Cyprus at the time and found this website really helpful. My question now is did everyone manage to achieve their quest and if so did anyone manage to get it reinstated to the date it was first stopped if that date was prior to the European Courts of Justice ruling 18th October 2007?
My husbands Attendance Allowance was stopped in October 2005 I am still fighting to try and get it back dated to that time that the Department for Work and Pensions stopped it. I would be so grateful if anyone can help me on this matter. The name Tina Hamilton springs to mind as one of the ladies who worked so hard on this matter.

Hi Patricia
In case you haven't looked there already, there used to be a "British Expats Association" @ http://www.ukgovabusesexpats.co.uk/index.htm
Their first page shows the following:
With Members collective support victory will be ours - we already have several notable victories :-
â—¦The Introduction of the Winter Fuel Allowance (for those in receipt pre re-locating to Spain)
â—¦The repayment of fines imposed illegally on some UK drivers whilst driving in Spain.
â—¦Gaining the support of the National Pensioner's Confederation
â—¦Getting the E.U. to support our complaint about Spain not adhering to EHIC regulations
â—¦Getting the UK Government to admit they were wrong over higher levels of health care for pensioners
â—¦The Association was right about higher levels of health care for pensioners - Consul Thomson was wrong
â—¦The Association was right about the abolition of Residence cards -. Consul Thomson was wrong again
â—¦The re-instatement of D.L.A, A.A. and C.A. for ExPats who re-located within the E.U.
If you are not currently a Member you may ask yourself "why should I join?" Click here to find out why
So maybe the last item is what you were hoping for ?
I'm not sure if they are still active though because the site seems to have shrunk - probably due to lack of support/funds.

To Mikelincs and Loco Pedro,
Thank you both so very
much for your help I was really getting desperate. I have now found the site and hopefully got the information needed to fight on. I am sure I would not have got there without your help, I am truly grateful.
