Daughter going to college
Hello there,
I do hope somebody can be of help. Our daughter (23) has enrolled to study in Madrid at an art college: Escuela Superior de Dibujo Profesional (ESDIP) C/ Santa Engracia 122. 28003 Madrid. Its to the west of the city and seems quite close to tube lines etc....
Now she is fluent in Spanish and college starts in 6 weeks time, we need to find some accommodation for her which is quite close by for walking or tube lines. Her boyfriend is also coming and he will be studying in another college to the east of the centre. I have looked at all the internet options but it is very daunting, would it be best to find a place for a month to start, then through new students she would find something? It all seems very expensive as well so any advice would be very welcome for parents and daughter.

I would rent somewhere for a month as you suggest, then they should find somewhere cheaper on student noticeboards and through personal contacts once term starts (assuming they don't mind sharing). Anything advertised on the internet tends to have a hefty agents' mark-up.

- there are plenty of flatshares advertised on sites such as idealista and segundamano
- talk to the art college, they may have an accommodation scheme
- there are probably specialist Spanish student forums that have an accommodation section too
Madrid isnt cheap. I doubt that you could get a very small studio or 1bed flat for less than 700 euros per month, in a half-decent area. But then that is quite cheap really, compared to London
