Default Damage to Upholstery

Can anyone recommend anything, that will deter Cats from sharpening their claws on Upholstery Items.
Any advice appreciated.
Many Thanks.

cats hate citrus smell, so maybe you could spray the upholstery with something citrusy?

Hi Daveyboy. Until we found a play centre for cats in Lidl's, we made them a scratching post by binding the legs of a stool with thick rope, which they loved.
Any alternative you can think of, plus the deterrent of the citrus oil on your upholstery, should do the trick.

They love olive and pine trees. Plant some and train them
