I know what you mean. I had a similar experience with crabs, (the ones from the sea), in my early teens and never touched them again for more than twenty years.
Even now I'm still very wary of them for all I quite like the taste.

I know - I'm the same with Southern Comfort .....

My husband goes green at the very mention, but he and his friend did once get through a full litre bottle between them.

It was disagreeable on a night many years ago, taking turns with cans of Guinness - definitely not to be recommended
