I would be interested in knowing how people have actually submitted a zero return.
I recently produced a declaration for some friends, which resulted in a zero return.
I usually take my return to the bank who are happy to process the payment, but in this case, their bank refused to do it as no payment was involved.
They then went to the tax office to submit it, but even that proved difficult and involved a couple of visits before they sorted it out.
I have suggested that next time they take the option at the end of the declaration to make a donation to the Catholic Church. This way the bank will have something to transact which should solve the problem.
Yes, I know that an online declaration is possible, but that gets complicated because of the need for digital certificates or a PIN24.

No idea how he managed to get the office to deal with it but prior to 2012 all of our returns were nil returns taken to the hacienda by our gestor and also stamped by our local bank. In 2013 I received a rebate due to the change in circumstances and once again that went through without a hitch.

Forgot when I wrote that post that he said at the time that he had to go there several times to get them to deal with it so it was not even easy for him and that is why we continued to use his services.
As you so rightly said some are easy, some are not. We all seem to find that no matter what we are undertaking here "it depends" is normally the answer to queries as to how to go about things. Each place has its difficulties and it is hard to predict anything, the joys of living in Spain.

Well apparently not for those for example who initially register but earn less than €8000- they are not required to send an annual return unless their circumstances change
I was just thinking if being tax exempt ( Crown Pension) after first registration, would it be a similar situation

However, I noticed in the (very) small print, that anyone who has income subject to the double taxation treaty MUST declare every year.
I note that you intend to do that anyway, but I just wanted to add that, in case anyone else reads this thread and thinks they can get away without declaring just because the income is below the threshold.
