Default Creatures of habit?

It appears 80% of us return to the same place on holiday every year.
I have to admit that I often go back to the same place - mainly because I have friends in certain places, and I know I'll enjoy the place.

its all about moving from one comfort zone (home) to another comfort zone (holiday). Man is a creature of habit, even down to taking the same route there every year, stopping off at that nice cafe half way, because they do such nice cream teas.

They also get up at the same time, ablutions in the same order, Saturdays go to the same supermarket, park in the same place, buy the same food, have tea and stickies in the same place.

No sense of fun or adventure. But it is "comfortable".

Yes, I agree. many do do that. Of course if you are stuck with a second home then you feel obliged to go. We have stayed in the same place in St Lucia for the past 3 years. We were really made a fuss of and got lots of extra perks. Many other guests had been going for years and years. One couple in their 80's from New York had been staying there for 3 months every year for 25 years! however we also went to other places too the same years. I do find that each time I holiday in the same place I like it a little less each time.

If we are in Spain and know a hotel in that area which is good then we will usually not hesitate to stay again.

Even when we had a second home in Spain we always took a winter holiday elsewhere. People don't know what they are missing....there is a wonderful world out there.

In the case of a second home it does not necessarily mean being tied to it, because if chosen wisely it can also be used as a base for traveling much further afield, which is also one of the advantages of having a good location on mainland europe and avoiding the channel or north sea.
