Default Crack filler

Hello,
What's the best product in Spain for preparing exterior walls before painting?
I've got quite a lot to do, so maybe a powder I have to mix myself... I don't know how it's done here.
Thanks

I would use yeso - probably yeso rapide.

But be warned it is not nice to use. Experienced builders have problems with it.

Unless you are a skilled plasterer I would stick to regular yeso....The rapide stuff is a nightmare to work with, you need to be quick and professional....Don't forget to to lay it on in huge scoops!

Don't know how much wall you have to prepare; our local builder recommended me to apply "Humistop" which is in powder form, which you mix with water & apply with a trowel. Obviously we get more rain up here than down south. I used it to help seal various cracks in the exterior wall paintwork. I painted over it 2-3 days later after it had dried.

So far seems to have worked well.

It's mostly for very thin cracks in the paint.

If it's just small cracks in the paint then make sure all loose paint is removed and simply paint over.

The key is to use a good quality paint with a guarantee of at least 10 years. Any thing less and you really are wasting your money.

Then you can buy a ready mixed product from Leroy Merlin ... you really dont need to be using Yeso for that. Just look for the tubs of filler that have fibreglass in the mix. Push it into the cracks and after allowing it to dry for a while rub over it with a cloth to take off excess. Its easy and quick to use. Stuff I use iirc is called Quilosa Liteplast. Afterwards you can paint over it

We used Sikaflex, then smoothed over with exterior Aguaplast and painted.

Sika products in general are excellent.

Cracks are 'Grietas'. There are products in tubes to do exactly what you want in most ferreterias.
