Hi,
I was planning to buy new garden furniture from Costco in the UK and then have it transported down to my apartment in the Eastern Algarve.
I have just found out that Costco have recently opened a store in Seville, so i was wondering if anybody knows if Costco will transport items over the border to the Eastern Algarve.

As a point of fact the UK stores do not offer a delivery service however recently they have started to offer self drive vans on the car park hire by the hour. Also in UK there is now an online market place which does offer home delivery but the offer is not quite the same article as in store neither of these seem to be available in Spain just yet but I am sure if Costco expand in Spain they will come.
I will report any developments here after my next visit.

Hi John,
Thanks for your reply.
Can you confirm if the merchandise on sale in the Seville store are the same or similar to those on sale in the UK. I've looked at their promotional video on line which seems to show the same store layout and similar items on sale as in the UK. I've visited a couple of stores in the states ( Indiana and Chicago) and they have almost identical goods to ours, so I'm hoping it'll be the same scenario in the Seville store and I'll be able to find the same garden furniture.
I look forward to hear from you after your next visit.
Martin.

I believe there are quite strict laws in Portugal about transporting goods. ie the transporter has to have all receipts for the goods and proper Delivery notes.
John and I know someone who has a warehouse and may be able to take the delivery and transport it on to you

Hi Guesswork,
Can you enlighten me on the strict laws of transporting furniture from Spain to Portugal, as i dont want to find myself in an embarrasing situation should i be stopped at the Spanish/Portuguese border.

I've used my card in two different stores in the states, so i would suggest that you can use your UK card in Seville

Just something a friend told me. She used to fit out apartments mainly on the Algarve but also some in Spain and was always worried when moving stuff from one country to the other. It was the Portuguese that were the more stringent with paperwork

It is quite surreal really walking through the door is like walking into Milton Keynes the store layout is basically the same and lots of the same things are sold with some Spanish items mainly in the food lines. When you have to struggle to find a park spot in Ayamonte it is a dream to roll up and find a two story under the store car park with more parking at ground level all with American sized spaces you can open all four tours in! They did have garden furniture. It is of course seasonal.
In fact I even wrote to Tesco once to point this issue out & explain why it may well increase the amount of people wishing to shop there as a result, never received a reply mind.
