In this point you are right. There aren't too much restaurants in where you can eat, as accompaniment or even as a main dish, vegetables, unless you ask for a salad or red/green peppers. I missed them many times :(

If you do not mind travelling to Tavira I can recommend Abstracto, Rive Gauche and A Pateo. The first 2 are French influenced and the latter Portuguese. They are located just north of the Roman bridge. If you walk over the bridge you immediately come to a triangular building, go to the right. You will walk about 30 metres and there is narrow street on the right, you can see Rive Gauche on the right. To find the others walk back to the end of the narrow street turn right and they are more or less next door to each other about 20 metres up the road.

Simple is the way forward. I'm so happy with a plate of Jamon, a small beer, some olives and a bit of bread.

The ingredients are so good that you don't need to do much to them.

Oh and the seafood. It's amazing. I don't want to over power it with sauces or anything. Grilled Dourada with some potatoes (boiled in Portugal, chips in Spain) makes the world go by slowly but beautifully.

Though again, I do understand other people want more and that will happen the more of us that move there. Supply drives demand and I never think that Ayamonte will totally change. I just don't think it will.

I love curry and usually am dying for one by the time I come home from a week or so from Esuri/Ayamonte.

Hello John & Kath, your house is more beautiful each time i see it. The other day it was illuminated by a brilliant enormous and round moon that there was close to it and it looked fantastic :thumbsup:, i should have taken a picture for you.

Hi all, have just come back from a fantastic 10 days in Costa Esuri, which when totalled mean that we have been there for 53 days in the last year....thats not gloating, just trying to put a perspective on where our views come from.

We love the place more each time we go and are already looking at the websites to book our next flights!

Everyone we meet in Costa Esuri loves their property, yes we have all had our problems, but overall the big picture is about a holiday home and area that we can learn more about and enjoy for years and years.

The riverside bar in Alcoutim served us 4 coffees, a brandy, a coke, 2 cakes and a view that was amazing, all for less than 7 euros, but dont go in case you are there when we want the best table.:-)

The golf club house had more than 60 people in it every day that we were there, lunchtimes especially lively, and even the restaurant is now being well used...our nordic cousins certainly seem to have taken to it.

The course, though having had a local problem around the fringes, is more than fair, never had a bad lie on the fairway in 6 rounds and cant blame any missed putts on anything except my lack of ability, or a hangover! However birdies on 2 and 18 on my last round meant that I left with a big grin.

Chris (Golf Pro) says that the 2nd course will be open in the summer...though he did not say which year, nor if it would be early or late summer. Apparently the designer was given carte blanche to design the 2nd course and has excelled himself, though it will not be a course for beginners or hackers.

Ayamonte is still fabulous, we even found our way to the Auditorio Miguel Jiminez for a charity Flamenco evening on Saturday, through the only non Spaniards they were genuinely delighted that "visitors" wanted to be part of their very Spanish event.

An evening of dancing and drinking somewhere in Marina Esuri Manzana 2 was, to say the least memorable.....those there will not forget in a hurry!

So to sum up, those that have completed seem to love the place and just get on with having a fantastic time, we will be back in June for 10 days, August for 17 and October for another week. Cant wait.

Over the last 5 years we have spent a lot of time each year in Ayamonte But we cannot match 53 days in a year although we make frequent trips, 3 in the last three months but if it is ready we will come from mid October until Christmas so this could be the year.

Just got the latest photos taken this morning and we agree it looks fabulous. They have just started to cover the lower exposed concrete with dry stone walling using stone recovered from the site. When the rendered parts are painted white with Ayamonte blue detail as are some in barrio la villa it will be very nice.

If I lived in Esuri I'd want a curry now and then but I'd make my own and I'm happy to supply anyone that gets a curry urge!!!

But I don't (live there that is) so when I'm there I just love eating fresh food that I can get in London but would cost me a small fortune here, plus in London I've got someone messing around with it. Simplicity is the way forward.

The fish/fruit/meat market in Ayamonte is fantastic I can see me living in there. Cycle down in a morning. Buy the stuff, cry as I cycle up the hills back to Costa Esuri and then grill outside and drink some plonk. I don't want more than that.

When the riverside road is open the only hill will be the one from the viaduct to the shed and I think if you were cheeky you could use it now.
