Dear All,
We have a ground floor apartment on Esuri and would like to put a gate through the fence to directly access the swimming pool area. Could anyone who has had this work done let me know if you would recommend whoever did it for you, and let me have some contact details if so? Also, an idea of what this is likely to cost would be great! Thanks, Tanya |

John We split our installation having a separate unit in the main bedroom upstairs and a powerful unit downstairs operating separately. Upstairs has aremote control (R/C) but not downstairs. I guess that this gadget, that I really know nothing about, is a R/C replacement, so may not work with the downstairs unit, UNLESS the control unit has an option for an R/C in addition, in which case it could work. hello just wondered if anyone has heard when the creditors meeting is with fadesa we are still trying to get our deposits back on an appt on rago 1 our solictor says we should have a succesful outcome in a creditors meeting but she wants us to send her 15.000 euros to carry on getting our deposits back just wondered if anyone was in the same position as us and had got any more info thanks barks

We are in the same boat trying to get something back to start again - so far with no luck. We know quite a few people in the same boat - only 1 has got her deposits back. However, our solicitor has not asked for any money. 15k euros seems rather a lot - what do you get for it? We are coming over shortly to see our solicitor so will let you know what we find out. |

Have you paid your solicitor anything for work so far? If you are going to pull out she needs paying for her work so far. No one can work for nothing. Can you imagine how many phone calls and emails she could be answering from buyers who are not going to proceed? When times were good it is fair to say that at the end of every property transaction she earned a tidy sum for not that much work. Now it is quite a different scenario for her.

I am also rethinking taking eg a UK based lawyer. They are professionally and ethically bound e.g by law society rules, I believe. And you can still find an expert in Spanish law. Sure they are more expensive, but what startled me was that there was recently a post saying that to get responses from some people, you have to physically be there. And buying/selling a home abroad is not a trivial or cheap transaction. If the average property in CE is, say, about 250K, the 15K bill is a big percentage (6%) - and this isnt a completion its a refund of deposit. There was a very interesting discussion about 6weeks ago, when a post arrived critising a lack of response from a law firm. This lead to an interesting discussion about lawyers. One lawyer, Gloria Crespo, was the only one recommended several times for delivering good services. Also I learned that one can go to the e.g chamber of commerce and other organisations to find a decent lawyer. Very interesting posts on this subject. Ive bought property in several countries, yet the experience with our place in CE, that we had with a local lawyer was the single most upsetting experience I have had in any phase of my previous acquisitions - and I have had my fair share of them!! Which is why I posted about keeping the option of a UK based lawyer open in the post above. They are bound by professional and ethical standards.... perhaps Spanish lawyers are too, but taking a formal complaint against them sounds like a nightmare (though I have no experience of it). Although yesterday I did get a call from another resident who used the same people, asking if I knew how it could be done. My recommendation to Barks1956 is to consider the past experience had with the lawyer. Has he/she received a good and professional service for example? Throwing good money away is not a good idea. Also they have to itemise and explain this huge bill. If they are not forthcoming with information I would go out and get a large barge-pole and not touch them with it! Good luck Barks and I hope you have a decent lawyer - who can protect you properly, in this very tricky situation with Fadesa. Its worth paying for a decent professional service, as the down-side cost is very high. I hope you have it. Jon |

Our neighbours also had a gate fitted by Absolute and are happy with the work.

Bit stuck as prepaid so what I thought was good value became quite expensive. Very much a take it or leave it attitude also. I think I'll go back to Economy Car Rental as they were good the previous time.

The new one has a more substantial menu, but is basic and good portugese fare. So he still rates as the closest to CE...... The new one is called Mestre Romulo. Very drinkable house red for 5 Euro a litre.. but get a half litre for 3 and share it if you are driving. Tel 966 170 381 or 962 686 137. To find both take the Villa Real (VRSA) turn off after the bridge. Go away from VRSA, north at the junction and in 100 yards take the Monte Francisco (MF) turn off, first left. At the roundabout, DONT follow MF but take the 2nd exit. After a hundred yards or so, at the next R-about turn right. His first resto is immediately on the left Campiesa, and about 30 yards further down in his new one. (BTW the original resto is in a community centre - with free internet in the upstairs library) Apart from the club, of course, I'd say this is the closest resto to CE - GREAT that it is in Portugal. The price has gone up from the 7.50... to 8 - but that includes soup + main course + desert + coffee + 1/4 wine. Previously we would pay 2x7.50+5 for a LITRE of quaffable wine. So the equivalent of 10 euros each for a big nosh up and a bottle of wine each. Also Luis is a linguist, he speaks English + French which is good for us. Then its calling Ann for a great taxi service back home! Cheers Jon |
