Hi,

I know most of you don't rent, but maybe you know it. I'm looking to long term rent an apartment between Fuengirola and Torremolinos, but when I look on the websites like Idealista or Spain Houses they always show me apartments in the south of the cities so near the sea, nearly never in the north. I mean there must be flats to rent too. Is it possible that local landlords advertise more in maybe local newspapers?

In a lot of places the only way that landlords advertise is by putting a for rent or for sale sign on the property with their phone number. Hope someone can help with local papers or other suggestions.

I have been renting an apartment in Benidorm for years but found it in the local estate agents window. I never see apartments to rent advertised in any of our local papers, and i do look......

No one uses newspapers anymore - websites, see alquiler boards or agents are the best bet.

Like everywhere you need local contacts, probably makes sense to contact the estate agents directly so you are on their list. If you have found employment, what about HR or your manager?
It's always hard to start somewhere and sometimes a short-term apartment might be the solution now, even if it's not your preferred area. When you get to know the area and have the contacts you can find something more suitable long-term.

Thank you sooooooo much for your help. Yes is always good having contacts and to mention that I'm looking for an apartment and working colleagues. Flight is booked for Thursday and then I will start visiting the estate agents in Fuengirola. Have just had a look on Google map, blimey it will take me some time to visit most of them but you have convinced me it is the best to do. It's a good exercise too and I like walking so no problem.

Thank you once again and I wish you a nice weekend.

Remember, long-term rental is much sought after and properties don't hang around for long. When you find a place you like, you must move swiftly to secure your tenancy. You need NIE, and most landlords look for proof of income such as job contract or pensions. Deposit is usually one month's rental, plus a month's rent in advance, payable in cash or by card in euros.

I'm not in that area but second the thoughts about asking/looking around on the spot as at one time I needed a rental place for some months because of extensive works being done on my house. I looked on the internet for a long time and was despairing I'd never find anywhere close but then went down a street in my local town I'd never needed to go down before and saw a sign on a balcony. It turned out to be perfect and walking distance to the school my kids were going to. Serendipity for sure.
