I wonder if anything will come of this or will it get bogged down in the political stew.

Basically corruption is the name of the game in Spain, and has been the accepted norm for many more years than most ppl.can remember.
For far too long, it's been the quickest, easiest and virtually broadly accepted way of getting to the top in social circles, rather than trying to run a legit business with all of it's associated headaches and drawbacks.

Mind Boggling !..... and even all of that lot could just be the tip of the iceburg if all the bones were dug up from the last 50 years or so.

Its just as bad in many areas in small and mid sized business ,the ones who want to work honestly cant compete with the crook`s so you either join them or pack in ,acceptance of corruption in Spain may be dwindling but its is still holding back the economy.

You could be right there. But even up in Galicia we have not been immune from these sort of scandals. they are a lot lot smaller in scale this this one through.

They wish it could be a clone of Miami. It is more like a clone of the New Jersey Turnpike. Ugly sad little buildings crashed together without planning, amenities or civic structure. More like Miami's sick ugly cousin. A classic monument to greed, corruption and expediency with mediocre weather. Miami has good architecture, a reasonably good civic sector and better weather!

Saying that though, the town itself isnt so bad, especially the old town and the beach walk between Marbella and Puerto Banus is the best on the CDS. Its the urbanisations surrounding the town that are much worse.
As regards to Miami, when I lived in Barcelona, I had a workmate who was born and raised in Miami. We went out drinking until 5am in the morning and he was shocked when I said we should walk back from the bars or even go and sleep on the beach (which I've done in the past). He said if you do that in Miami you wouldnt live to see the morning!
