Default Contract

Morning, just looking at job vacancies in Spain (I've EU passport) and have noticed that some foreign companies mention that it will be a Spanish job contract. Does anybody know if it would be a disadvantage for employees? Have somehow a not so good feeling but can't find anything in Google. Thank you in advance. Christine

A contract in anything but Spanish; in Spain is just a piece of paper with printed words on it.. Worth the price of the sheet of paper; if that and not enforceable in any court in Spain.

A comprehensive guide to Spanish contract types is here :

Read also the link on : https://www.comparaja.pt/blog/desped...or-justa-causa

This is always the most contenious part of any labour relationship - the past labour tribunals invariably found in favour of the employee, today they are more rigorous in their judgements.

This is not a disadvantage if you're living in Spain, quite the opposite.

Spanish contracts use a standard template with any extra clauses at the end if necessary. Spanish | English

Those links are in Portuguese and related to Portuguese law.

But absolutly needed for buying a car, a house, getting a loan etc. A very good thing to have if you are living here.

I think the OP is talking about a contract drawn up under Spanish law not simply the language it's written in

You can't have a contract drawn up just in English under Spanish law. The company might provide an English translation in addition to a Spanish contract, but it won't mean anything legally.
