Hi All (First Post)
My wife and i have been discussing the idea of relocating with our young family to mallorca. We have been looking on the internet and have found many good website regarding this topic but none really give the information we require, so im hoping you will be able to help me
.
1) Property purchase, is it easy? any good websites
2) Getting a job what are the oppitunitys like?
3) standard of living?, better than the UK?
4) Are there state schools or are they all private?
5) Best locations for purchase of a property?
Also if you have any other advice it would be appreciated
Many Thanks

Did i see Mallorca mentioned
Hi Spikey and welcome
A wise choice young man

Only downside is property prices , and job fronts probably going to be very tough as its mainly a holiday island and not much year round industry.
I have spent months and months searching propertys and weeks and weeks driving round the island , seems to be cheaper inland so depends on your budget ? Plenty of apartments near the coasts though ,
Cheapest areas will be in the little just of the coast type places , along the North East and East of the island . but catch 22 as schools will be in short supply , however all the big towns have schools so maybe aim for a compromise .
I believe all the schools are state owned .
Do you know the island well ?
I love the place and your asking is the standard of living better than the UK

Do you really think living in England is good ?Well if you think England is good then you will think Mallorca is Paradise

cheap Rates ,cheap Fuels, sunshine ,fresh fruit straight of the trees, clean air, good shops, low crime rate, etc etc..
Depending where you live could be lonely place in the winter months as it is a holiday place , but i love the quiet and thats why i have chose Cala Romantica a small place all quiet but with Porto Christo up the road and sensibly priced , so could be worth you checking there . Hey become my neighbour hmmmmm hang on you have kids nahhh you wouldnt like it here

only joking , check near where i am heading , it ticked the box for me ..

Hi Big Pete, Thanks for the info i heard you would be the guy with the answers
. Anyways we know the island quite well stayed at santa ponsa, alcudia, el arsenl on many ocasions and love stay at all of them. One of the main things we love about the island is how laid back everything is compared to the UK.
From our research we kinda worked out that the best place to by would be inland slighty but on a plus it is only a small island and travelling around the island is pretty easy.
Schools i think will be the only issue will have to do a bit more resaerch me thinks.
On the job front im hoping to do something within IT hopefully, but i don't mind doing anything really office work, bar work etc etc but something more permenat would be preferred, but i don't mind contracting.
Big Pete when are you looking to moving out there permanetly?

But buyer of my property cant sell theres and so now trying to find a new buyer
So in answer to your question planning on being there soon as possible .. The moment the cheque for my property hits my Bank at say 9.30am by 11.am i will be at the airport
Lots of schools so you will find one no probs , and agree the islands small enough its all within easy driving reach ..
I love the place

Never been far south to Santa Ponsa but seeings as the rest is lovely i have no doubts its gonna be nice ..
Palma is full of industry offices etc so work wise you should find IT work there i guess.

Spikey
Forgot to mention i have dealt with loads of estate agents on the island , some are a waste of space some are good , but one that i would say is the most honest and go that little extra dont fill your email with junk propertys etc, and speak English as well ,was www.mallorca-property-guide.com i deal with one of the owners shes called Bettina .
If you email her on [email protected] and say what your looking for she will search for you , and be honest if the areas bad she says etc..
