Community Insurance

I have just bought a detached property on a small urbanisation of five other properties.
I have insurance for buildings cover and contents of my own property.
I have asked the President regarding Community Insurance for the common areas e.g. walkways, community pool, stairways.
I have been told that it is not required.
Is it a legal requirement in Spain to have Community Insurance or is it just "nice to have"?

As a minimum, must we have Public Liability insurance to cover the Community in the event that either a renter or other third party (e.g. workman or visitor) is injured when in the Community areas ?

It is required, but should be paid out of the community funds by the administrator not by the individuals.

Thanks JDR, but is it a legal requirement, and if so what is the relevant legislation ?

Not sure if it is a legal requirement, but just a little good sense, a few €`s could save a big claim.
