Coloured number plate

Coloured number plate
Just curious about something we saw today. Driving back from the nearest large town we were overtaken by a "people carrier" type vehicle. The rear number plate was coloured blue and had white lettering. It was a Spanish registered vehicle - "E" eu symbol 4 numbers and 3 letters beginning with a K. Under the number plate was an "SP" plate so presumable a taxi or something. We haven't seen anything like this before and were wondering if it was something new?

It's the new legally adopted 'Taxi ' licence plate that is now blue. The SP badge is the operators licence for the taxi.

Thanks for that. We thought it was possibly something like that but being the first one we had seen we were curious.
